Weve had 14 years of Austerity and lack of Infrastructure investment to deliberately make it feel a problem Any half decent government if it planned to expand the population would have invested to take account of that, there were always mechanisms within the eu to do it the tories chose not to use them @andyquelch5754

@keithmarshall8796 the one responsible for the points based migration system which has doubled the number of dependents coming in and is shipping in people from the 3rd world at below market rate to depress service sector salaries? You mean the that takes back control and let supply side freemaketeers rip with global Britain and unregulated migration?

@HPugwash services are at breaking point because of Austerity back in 2010 Osborne cut funding for health sector training and we have depressed wages of around 25%. The ones that do qualify are leaving the country to be replaced with cheap foreign labour on top of the shortfall. Migration is a consequence of economic policy If you want lower invest in the social and physical infrastructure and regulate plus appropriate taxation

@andyquelch5754 no I don't agree with the levels of migration. If you want lower migration regulate and invest the Tory fantasy that you can have a low tax low regulation economy and have sustainable levels of both inward and outward migration are that a complete fantasy. Example - non regulation of Zero Hour and the gig economy lead to millions coming here employed by offshore multinationals undercutting domestic businesses shovelling money Out of the economy in offshoring profits. Zero hour and Uber are banned in Norway for example where the labour market is highly regulated

@andyquelch5754 move on, the Tories privatised water which is going to cost around 100 billion when they start going bankrupt and right to buy is costing councils 20 billion in housing support and 20 billion in lost rent. I agree PFI was a mistake but it wasn't terminated till 2018, 8 years into the current bought of Tory mismanagement. It was also a Thatcher era legacy to get elected Blair swung right over to the centre, and the economic consensus at the time was that the Thatcherism, Reganomics worked breaking the post war Keynsian model From 2012 economists have been making ever louder noises that far from working its lead to the economic malaise were in today. Reeve in her Mais speech said as much. So our choice is stick with a failing economic model based on a unique period in our history with massive oil revenues or move to a more Keynsian managed economy

@smashcan1 cost per person is around £3,000 pp and should be increased with population size and inflation I'm not disagreeing with you but it's totally incompatible with a low reg low tax supply side tricle down economic model.

@andyquelch5754 I put a full reply to this but it seems to have gotten auto deleted But it would appear we broadly agree that a more centre left approach and a managed economy advocated by Reeve is the way forward over the Tories endless outsourcing.

Not true you can't get housing because the council housing stock has been depleted by 2 million by right to buy and money hasn't been spent to replace them
