@rfurdaylee since voting to leave in 2016 our economy has lost close to 1 trillion that's 330 billion lost in tax revenue Why do you think the Cons have had to raise taxes and employ more civil servants red tape and bureaucracy in costs money

There's a reason Brexit was a load of BS We are subject to trade gravity a country trades with its nearest neighbours the further away in distance you get the more costly it is to trade. Divergence introduces economic pain which adds costs to UK products for both import and sale not to the EU but everywhere. Not only are trade volumes for export down to the EU they are down in general as we become less and less competitive

Yes Tice needs to read up on economic Trade Gravity And also realise that a huge % of trade is from SME'S who don't have the capability to trade other than locally

@TheGazza636 Tice is deluded and doesn't understand Trade and its complexity. Eu rule alignment will happen because we can't afford not too the more you diverge the more it costs the less competitive we are. Not only are our exports to the EU by volume falling due to trade barriers with the supply chain knackered so are our exports to the rest of the world.

@TheGazza636 our supply chains run in/out and through the EU, supply chain disruption is already custing us billions. Any product sold in the EU has to meet EU standards just look at Apple they've adopted usb C worldwide. Uk firms still produce to the CE mark difference now is we have tons of paperwork and red tape to negotiate for the privilege. The more you diversify (lower standards) the more paperwork there will be the more f8rms will just give up and relocate to the EU and sell back into the UK

@TheGazza636 yes I voted to join Since then we've spent decades integrating our supply chains and removing duplication ex- Gallileo, Horizon as well as harmonising trade rules so a sole trader in Doncaster can sell all over Europe tariff tax and paperwork free. Now we have certificates delays tariffs multiple tax codes and import / export issues with 27 different countries who are on our doorstep

@TheGazza636 the firm my wife work's for does export/import and has to deal with all the fallout even thier US exports are down My son is Ceoliac and gluten free food was mostly manufactured in Europe since Brexit prices have doubled also I can no longer send my younger brother a birthday present he lives in Norway paperwork is to cumbersome you have to fill in export forms. I'm also not a fan of paying higher taxes because our gdp has fallen
1
@TheGazza636 you a taxpayer if so fiscal drag instituted by Sunak is taking +£500 off you in income tax and NI. Our gdp per capita has fallen and continues to fall affecting tax revenues and disposable income as salaries don't keep up with inflation

There only costing money because the Tory Party wishes to use them for political gesture politics. If they processed them 20,000 would be sent back and 60,000 would be working in the economy per year. Processing them saves 6 billion a year and having those who are accepted working generates GDP on top we have a population of just under 80 million 60,000 is nothing but a rounding error to put it into context 500,000 UK residents emigrated last year @rfurdaylee

The cost of energy in 2021 to UK consumers was 30 billion in 2023 its estimated to be a 170 billion it will cost proportionally double staying as we are rather than going net zero due to gas & oil price instability. 140 billion over 10 years = 14 trillion. Energy cost could still be 170 billion per annum To achieve net zero invest in new infrastructure 48 billion over 10 years = 4.8 trillion. Energy costs down to 30 billion This is the extreme case with ongoing high gas prices but there is little to show that gas will come down or if it does by a pre 2021 margin meanwhile renewable energy gets ever cheaper
