Net zero will boost gdp by onshoring energy jobs and reducing electricity costs

The only way to get the economy going is social and structural investment not tax cuts, there's 10% cuts baked into the budget for services which will further shrink the economy, Thatcherism is a broken record

@raptorheli2 it can't be renewable? Why not cost of tidal is on par with Nuclear and with renewables you get a lot of off peak energy which can be used by businesses and industry. Mass storage and next gen batteries are starting to appear

@raptorheli2 in California they implemented a 750 million cost Tesla Megapack facility which saves ERCOT 1 billion a year. We've sent a man to the moon built the Internet and the IPhone We have Sand batteries, liquid metal batteries, liquid air batteries, hot rock batteries. My home system uses a large water tank to store heat greatly lowering electric usage

@raptorheli2 I run my house for the most part off the energy I produce adding a battery would push the envelope further. You could equip 1/2 million homes with solar domestic batteries + insulation for the cost of Hinckley C Net zero works by smoothing the demand curve and using smart tech it doesn't replicate the current grid. At least 40% of the energy would need to be decentralised running as a mesh. Once you plug EV's into the system you have unlimited smoothing capacity

@raptorheli2 my house uses next to no energy winter or summer due to insulation my biggest use is hot water in winter and during summer autum spring the water tank acts as a thermal store Why are you fixated on lithium? Its old tech By the way my house was built 1935 and the insulation is a retro fit + extension 2 years in now with a battery or EV I'd be 90% off grid

@raptorheli2 1st batteries don't have to be lithium based Finland are developing Sand Batteries for communal heating, the uk has a liquid air battery facility outside Manchester the US has started deployment of Flow batteries for grid backup and Sodium Ion + Solid State are starting to appear. My insulation costs +10% on build I loose / gain +/-2 degrees over 6 to 8 hour I've doubled my ground floor area and cut energy spend by 80%, the thermal and standard solar pay back in 10 years Net zero isn't 1 thing its insulation, grid storage, smart v2g, meshed domestic networks feeding into the grid, small scale wind and solar chipping away, smart glass, smart heating. Hinkley C will eventually cost 70 billion that's ×6 windfarms of equivalent capacity a tidal system would only cost 50 billion up front the nuclear base cost was 35 billion last time I looked and is 3 years late with additional cost overuns
