It's also one of the best locations on the planet for wind and tidal which you don't have to dig up, by the way we import most of our coal and don't own the oil and gas so it goes onto the world commodity market.

@sahhull importing coal was always going to happen with the Cons signing onto supply side economics fk everyone else the market is king so go suck on it. The reason we're so gas dependent is the extreme free market fundamentalist approach preached by right wing politicians

Where do they get these people from, do they go round and dredge up the most misinformed fossil fuel apologists they can find? The UK runs nearly 40% wind for electric the reason being wind power costsi 1/2 the price per megawatt hour to produce go look up Dogger Bank wind farm to see what's happening in the sector Also we don't own the oil and gas in our waters the government sold off the leases to private companies wayside from a bit of tax even then the Cons have given Shell sweeteners

@butters-vs-chaos the substation is on the East Coast in Yorkshire Dogger Bank comes online 2022 which will power 6 million homes when fully operational 20% of domestic consumption. There's a tidal project off Orkney already over supplying the island they should be deploying more this year, EV purchases hit 20% of registrations in December but the fossils on this channel are bought and paid by the fossil fuel lobby and Con their viewers. This is all about tanking the net zero pledge because God forbid were energy independent and have long term lower bills and a greener future

@maccagrabme There not illegal s there refugees they use that type of language to dehumanised them to disconnect you from the fact there liviving breathing human beings. @maccagrabme We left the Dublin Acord so no there is no mechanism for returning them to France. I've a better idea why not send over some recruiters from the NHS and find all those refugees that are displaced Doctors and Nurses given how understaffed our health system is. You live your closeted privileged life due to the west's insatiable appetite for Oil Gas and minerals when this thirst produces wars and refugees you want to wash your hands of the problem sorry but that's how it works. We have huge staffing shortages in nursing homes as well fetch a load in to do that job as well instead were going to waste billions finger pointing and calling them names
