that's world traded commodities like fossil for you go renewable and control your own destiny

renewables are 2.5 times cheaper on forward contract price than their nearest rival Nuclear and the government are giving over 100 billion in subsidies to the fossil industry so how does not going with renewable seem like a good idea given their so much cheaper? Are you afraid all those Oil execs won't get their bonus?

You elect Liz Truss she goes for massive tax cuts and causes the BOE to have to inject 140 billion into the system through QE that money sloshes around gravitating up to the wealthy who spend it on swimming pools and helicopters but instead of cutting wealthy people's demand you get poor people to cut back through demand side interest rates. So quiz how many poor people have to turn off their electricity completely for the laws of supply and demand to allow Sunak to heat his swimming pool?

yes and no the 140 billion pumped into the economy during the Truss debacle didn't help but we have a reliance on gas if we had more renewables + tidal and Nuclear we'd control our own energy supply but shell and BP own the NS fields so were screwed

If you have a supply side shortage as in energy you could ad more renewables to the grid quickly to reduce dependency on gas Oh I know lets ignore it and let the BOE use a demand side tool to crush the snot out of the economy instead

@chrisgibson7591 why wouldn't it be cheaper your going to need large amounts of domestic solar and recent breakthroughs should fetch costs right down

@chrisgibson7591 Capitalism ? no its not where dealing with corporate socialism? If you want to run a capitalist system you'd have more competition and you wouldn't be giving out corporate handouts to Oil companies at every opportunity

@chrisgibson7591 so I invested in Thermal solar it costs 2500 including installation it saves 75% of hot water on average with 17% of gas costs spent on heating I calculated that after year 8 years at current prices + inflation 75% of my hot water would be free. And that goes along the same pattern as all the other so called green policies I've actually stumped up and paid for including replacement windows and secondary insulation. I did have an extension built so the additional insulation was cheap and I put in underfloor heating because my old system was end of life. And that model follows for nearly all renewable and green costs high up front outlay capital payback 10 - 15 ish years
