Because nothing is happening the Conservatives have become ungovernable with factionalism and the country is in an economic hole you wouldn't believe of the Tory's making. Stringing it out will make the defeat worse as the factional infighting continues

@SmartCookie2022 you obviously don't understand economics, renewable energy is cheaper than fossil the reason we pay high energy prices is that lack of Infrastructure investment. The reason taxes keep going up is lack of social and physical infrastructure investment by both government and the private sector it has nothing to do with green levies. Reducing tax doesnt generate growth investment does
