We have more land dedicated to golf than housing, if we get short of food compulsory purchase golf clubs and turn them in agricultural small holdings

There's loads of grey field sites in the green belt we have dishes airfields from ww2 and it can take up to 14 years to get planning for a pylon This country is a joke at times this guy needs to get a reality check

We have loads of land, there's a load of disused airfields near me and an abandoned bankrupt golf course

@christinerussell113 we don't have a shortage of land, there are numerous disused ww2 airfields for a start all in green belt. The way to grow more food is cheap energy glass houses and hydroponics

@christinerussell113 well that's a silly comment now isn't it. Aside from the fact that Brexit was always going to increase migration what's your beef?
1
@timg1246 Eperts told you migration would go up with loosing FOM in 2016 and oh look they were correct. 50% of the visas are for dependants and there all now permenant something that wasn't the case with FOM. As for politicians being weak we have an economy that depends heavily on migrant labour switching it off without chenging economic policies would just stagnated it further.

@christinerussell113 you benefitted too in 2016 30% of your assets were wiped out when our currency fell. What drives migration is economic policy if you want to lower it tighten worker regulation and invest in the domestic workforce. FOM allowed businesses to expand and contract in all sorts of areas such as crop harvesting, major construction works. Now we have to dole out permanent visas We always had the ability to control migration while in the EU we chose not to do it.

@christinerussell113 FOM wasn't the cause of over 1 million gig workers coming to the UK on Zero Hour contracts it was a political decision by Cameron not to implement Labour laws which would have outlawed or controlled the flow. It was Osborne decision to cut nursing and doctors training places and also depressing public sector pay that has lead to huge number of foreign nationals in the NHS. There were a huge range of other ways to control flow but non were taken in fact the Conservatives continued to the end promoting policies which would lead to more migration not less. FOM was never the problem

@timg1246 they issued them because we needed the workers for the economy. That number is up on pre Brexit totals because of dependents which made up 50% of the total. I've explained why we need them when reffering to the NHS you can't simply switch it off a Nurse takes 4 years to train a Doctor 7. A decision that was taken over a decade ago will now take over a decade to reverse lowering the need for migrant labour in the NHS.
1
@timg1246 we didn't need extra people we got them because if you hire from 2000 miles away they want to fetch there dependants, wives kids husbands etc. Your also stuck with them People coming from the EU were statistically younger single and would move on they weren't tied to staying indefinitely.
1
@timg1246 that's easy because they are coming from 2000 miles away as well not the EU so fetch thier dependants. The universities rely on funding from foreign students or they'd go bust. This is a screw up entirely of the Cons making there is no easy way out of this

@christinerussell113 which bit about it's economics do you not UNDERSTAND? it's taken us 50 years to get to this point how do you expect it to be reversed in a whim. This is a feature of Thatcherism IT IS NOT A BUG You have had low tax for 50 years now your complaining?
