A net zero grid produces energy at a cheaper price than a fossil based grid One of the ways you can save money on your bill is have home battery storage it opens up cheap overnight tariffs and gives you high peak time export tariffs

Nuclear is just getting too expensive especially as battery prices have dropped massively and are due to fall in price further
2
Green energy is cheaper if you have cheaper energy your costs go down The issue is lack of mass storage to time shift consumption Battery prices fell 20% last year and for a domestic solar install there VAT free as are the panels, I've just had an install done the expected saving is £1200 a year from a combination of time shifting usage and opening up cheap overnight tariff, cheaper daytime tariff and not using the grid during peak

@andybrice2711 Steel closures are because of BREXIT nothing to do with UK energy policy as in the EU are putting very high tariffs on coked steel and coked steel products from 2026 onward from 3rd countries

@andybrice2711 without being in the EU manufacturing in this country is dead. Weather that is steel, cars, batteries anything.

what's wrong with EV's there dirt cheap to run? Energy suppliers are giving as low as 8p pkwh for overnight charging, you get around 250 miles out of a 50 kw battery I would add battery prices have dropped by 20% in the last year

I've just fitted a battery and solar system it will save me 1200 a year one of the main reasons is opening up cheap overnight tariff with my supplier and a lower day tariff Currently battery prices have fallen by 20% and they have been zero vat rated also business could reclaim 100% tax relief against capital costs
1
Mine have dropped by £1200 I fitted a solar and battery system which opens up cheap off peak tariffs with my supplier

a green grid is cheaper than a fossil one by a long way and our current grid isn't fit for purpose anyway

@zenbaby3396 Our GRID is sized to meet peak demand from 4-7pm. Most Industrial/business usage is during the day a small company could claim 100% of a solar + battery install against tax as a capital investment. It's the batteries that are saving all the money the solar ticks along as solar does

Our grid needs upgrading anyway, mass storage opens up time shifting and storage of always on power I've just had a solar + battery install done it is projected to save me £1200 a year, most of that saving is opening up low off peak tariffs from my supplier and using the battery at peak times. Just using the battery to import at low use at high will save me about £600 that's without the input from my solar
