I don't get why anyone would vote for the Cons it's a level of wilful blindness that's hard to fathom

Anyone in the current cabinet needs to be disqualified Sunak gave a tax cut to his banking buddies while putting up taxes, it was the treasury that put the knife into hs3 and the northern project making the upgrades London centric On inheritance tax its set at 350k but you have a nil rate band of 175k on main residence passed to a direct descendent also SIPP pensions aren't included, one of the main problems the Tories have created is more and more children are having to live at home as property prices skyrocket

While FOM is a contributing factor abandoning a frictionless market and the loss of cabotage is hammering the supply chain into bankruptcy. This winter is going to be like a set of dominoes falling even without UKCA and import checks or standards divergence once the bankruptcies start it will be a rolling wave of stagflation
29
4% is on the low side long term they've shafted the City as well. It was already declining as a major centre and now its getting kicked of EU business
28
Stop thinking rejoin is an option, you can make it better you can't reverse it The only way to move forward would be to change the voting system anything a FPTP system puts in place can be instantly undone with the next Con government
18
Pritti Patel treats everyone with contempt what's the police got to complain about.
17
Things will get worse we've had 7 quarters straight of negative GDP per Capita the GDP headline number is propped up by 1.25 million visas The other issue the Tories have is activists on the ground while they may have money people aren't keen to knock on doors and defend their record As for shrinking the poll gap with propaganda every part of the MSM has been batting for them and the polls still just get worse
10
Boris is a national embarrassment, the guy lies constantly and dishes up a heady mix of arrogance intertwined with complete incompetence It's percolating all down the cabinet the whole of the UK government is just rotting from the top down
10
Estimate is 85 billion over 10 years, the estimated cost to businesses of Johnson's red tape is around 8+ billion per annum

2 things to follow up on with Truss 1. Read an excellent article in Byline Times titled "LIZ TRUSS The Tufton Street Candidate" 2. Follow up on Minford the Brexir Economist (Singapore on Thames on steroids) who's tax advice she is quoting. Professor Patrick Minford, one of the ‘Economists for Brexit’, argues that leaving the European Union (EU) will raise the UK’s welfare by 4% as a result of increased trade. His policy recommendation is that following a vote for Brexit, the UK should strike no new trade deals but instead unilaterally abolish all its import tariffs. Under this policy (‘Britain Alone’), he describes his model as predicting the ‘elimination’ of UK manufacturing and a big increase in wage inequality. These outcomes may be hard to sell to UK citizens as a desirable political option.

Fascist don't need petrol they run on hot air

Here's an interesting fact the supply chain was an on demand 2/3 day delivery. If a delivery came from the EU and went say to Scotland the EU driver could pick up a delivery from Scotland to deliver to Birmingham then pick up again round the midlands area before heading to the continent. Quiz guess which blonde disheveled useless imbecilicus fkwt has completely broke the system So not only are EU freight firms reluctant to deliver very often there going back empty compounding the ever increasing supply chain delivery problems.

We're just going to have to play out the Johnson Brexit, unfortunately this ever evolving train wreck has to derail every carriage the worst part is having your freedom of movement removed then having your face rubbed in it telling you it's a benefit of Brexit.
8
Gdp is below 2019 levels Numbers in employment are less than 2019 Economy is 5.5% in gdp down each point of lost GDP = 8 billion Economy is 10% down from projections on 2016
7
What car does Sunak drive? A Ford Fiasco Boom boom
7
Your best videos are when you discuss stuff with Micheal You should both get together and do a weekly podcast and video, I listen to most of my political content via podcast Some topics for you The changing demographics of the electorate The true effects of Sunaks extreme Supply Side Economic policy and what are alternatives Imigration the real issues to the economy (birth rate 1.6 emigration 50k pa etc)
6
@sirmeowthelibrarycat why would he block it?
6
Labour and Starmer are proposing an Agri deal with the EU to resolve the NI protocol reducing the need checks by 90% Hint If we have less checks with NI we will have less checks with the EU
5
Labour are left of centre GBEnergy is a left of centre policy As is removing zero hour contracts Controlling the railways as the franchises run out Etc.
4
@sirmeowthelibrarycat gdp = the countries combined output Gdp per capita = output divided by people Our headline GDP is stagnant propped up with migration Our economy has severe problems as GDP per capita has fallen 7 quarters straight, were not in a technical recession were in a full blown recession
4
Lorry drivers HGV There's 300k with a wastage number of 600 per month leaving the industry (7200k PA) an estimate of 100k+ shortage It takes over a year to train a HGV driver the number of tests missed due to Pandemic 30k the pass rate is just over 50% So + 7800 per annum means we'll achieve 400k in 12.82 years I have an idea shrink the economy to fit the number I have an idea about the next tory leader all join the tory party and elect Patel, if you think BOJO is bad
4
Wishy Washy is a below average middle manager promoted upwards Kemi is so out of touch i cant see anything but anialation of the Tory party
4
@trident6547 NY stock exchange has a deal to trade in eurobonds I get the EU wants it in house as much as possible but we didn't have to acquiesce to much to keep the bulk of the business I work in IT if we drop the European data standard its estimated it will cost 3.5 billion in lost trade most companies will move hq to the EU
4
If you want a full view of this you need to go back to the introduction of Austerity by Cameron and following the free market fundamentalism mantra, the belief throughout has been the free market is king and will be a world beating advantage over a controlled market that brings not just prosperity to the big boys but spreads economic frictionless market down all the way to your small time eBay and Amazon seller. Under the Cons since Cameron we have the worst wage Growth since the Napoleonic wars the highest tax burden on the low and middle class since the 50's skyrocketing fuel prices because of a badly regulated utility market that allowed companies to shut storage facilities and dash for gas whose supply is controlled by an autocratic leader and his oligarch buddies and a death spiralling supply chain crisis that's seeing containers pile high in Felixstowe with random fuel shortages. Oh and wait a completly botched pandemic response costing tens of thousands of lives And yet THE CONS ARE STILL AT 40% IN THE POLLS WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE ARE YOU MASOCHISTS?
4
5.2% of gdp is 140 billion we have a tax base ratio to gdp of 32.8 giving a loss to the exchequer of 46 billion So the figure your quoting is taxation lost not gdp which may have been adjusted for other factors Each point of gdp is approx 8 billion in funds to the exchequer
3
How do you know Starmer will be terrible? The woman on the right behind Reeve in the final group picture is World famous economist Mariana Mazzucato Go read her book Mission Economy Well well that changes things Head over to the Resolution Foundation and read Ending Stagnation as well
3
@knasher2676 more fool you for voting against your own interests
3
@fuckfannyfiddlefart yet the liberals offer you the best way forward with electoral reform A first step would be Single Transferable Vote
3
Its only a big issue because our debt is at 100% GDP and remaining out of the single market will not grow GDP Borrowing to fund tax cuts is dumb when interest rates are low never mind when we have supply side commodity inflation on inelastic goods
3
There's a great piece on Max's channel a caller to James O'Brian talked about the sell One of the things he was suggesting was Brexit doesn't have to mean ....... Ex brexit doesn't have to mean raw sewage in rivers Brexit doesn't have to mean a privatised nhs Brexit doesn't have to mean hours of queuing at Dover As for rejoin forget it The Democratic system would need a complete overhaul, the Tory controlled media would trash any moves for more democracy 24/7 it would make brexit propaganda look lightweight
3
Read The Capital Order: How Economists Invented Austerity and Paved the Way to Fascism By Clara Marrei
3
Tufton Street are still in charge with Policy Exchange with a whole raft of Anti net zero policies enacted already by SUNAK including cancelling HS2/3 if it had gone ahead the intercity trains would move off the current line and free up enough mileage to move around 350,000 containers as well as increase local traffic
3
The fiscal rules arent neoliberal and Reeve has already said she would change them to fit Labour's agenda Last year we borrowed 130 billion and paid debt interest of 120 billion the whole thing is unsustainable
3
Productivity is low because the Tories are London centric If you want higher productivity you really do have to level up and on a massive scale of social and physical infrastructure not tinker round the edges. The Tory agenda is more like punching down
2
Changing leaders won't make a difference This is the unravelling of Thatcherism, Sunak has doubled down on small state low tax which is grinding our economy into the grave
2
An economy relies on small businesses to recover after a recession by about 60% if your knee capping small businesses then sick man of Europe has arrived at double quick time
2
2 child cap is popular with voters by a large margin its something like +70% Unlike the Tories who have a whole client media on their side Labour have to govern for the majority not just follow some elite idealistic socialist wonks who've never implemented a policy in their lives. @sueyourself5413
2
@knasher2676 no one makes you anyway labour are only vaguely left
2
@knasher2676 what's there to fear unless there your in the top 0.01% Even in their redest days the built the NHS and rebuilt a war ravaged country. While the current tories are moving towards Fascism.
2
YouGov poll today Tories down to 23% Labour up to 48% LIB-Dems 10% She's whipping up the English Defence League & islamophobic far-right groups, from football hooligans to so-called “migrant hunters”, are seeking to mobilise supporters to turn up in central London This 8snt going to end well
2
😁
2
The current Tories are a coalition of English Nationalists that want all the Toxic UKIP policies and hard right Free Market Fundamentalist who pedal extreme Supply Side Economics Both wings want fundamentally incompatible things Johnson barely holds them together, its dawning on the standard Conservative voter that the Cons don't represent them.
2
You can reduce migration through economic policy Ex - Osborne cut Nursing Bursary Effect less nurses trained Consequence employ foreign nurses Multiplier Brexit means outside the EU = MORE dependents Ex Osborne / Cameron fail to regulate Gig working don't BAN zero hour contracts allow offshore multi nationals Import just under 1 million workers into the sector between 2010 & 2015 Low migration is impossible in low tax trickle down supply side economy
2
Its not even close that Johnson is the worst PM this country has ever had The longer he hangs on the more he shit's all over the party and amps up further Tory infighting
2
There not going to do anything about it the idea is to completely deregulate and let the free market take care of itself. The cabinet are mostly acolytes of the IEA a libertarian think tank who's ideas are free market even if it poisons it's customers and it's factories pollute the environment while devastating local business who can't compete with far east child labour, burning the planet to a crisp in the name of making money because you know freedom They've also advocated for privatising the health service coz who cares if workers die coz they can't afford it
1
There's no such thing as a Red Tory. Even Blaire was well left of the Centre Right which Johnson destroyed
1
@b62boom1 It's a double edged sword, its also being used by the government to depress salaries in the public sector. Osborne canning training bursaries as part of Austerity for health workers has lead to an explosion of foreign nurses and doctors. And if your expanding the population you need to build the housing services and transport to sustain it. Figures on students and dependants is 500,000. The question is then would it be 200,000 net if we still had FOM how much of the fallout is Brexit
1
Quickest way is to devolve council tax banding. Then you can vote for sh1t local services if you want and have a big house
1
The UK will never rejoin while the Tory party exits and the MSM is owned by billionaire non dom's who will fight tooth and nail lie about everything and anything to keep what they have created. Over in Turkey Erdogan controls the MSM in Hungry its controlled by Orban even with a failed earthquake response and hyper inflation Erdogan still got reelected
1
Vacuums are going cordless and are thus getting more efficient to save power
1
He meant build back burger by the look of his waistline
1
@theunknown1426 on what knowledge do you base that? The current incarnation of the Tory Party threw out their centre right candidates Starmer isn't even a centerist he supports renationalizing key industries and centre left economic policies just because he's not prepared to commit to anything he can't achieve or deliver in 1 parliament your foaming at the mouth Corbyn promised everything delivered nothing but a defeat so crushing that there is nearly no way of stopping far right legislation
1
It's way more complex than that and if you thought Brexit damaged the GB economy it's a fraction of the damage an economic split within GB would cause both parties
