@johnvalerian8440 before the pandemic the US had 14% of its population in poverty plus a huge chunk living paycheck to paycheck, I've not seen official figures for 2021 but it's been a disaster for so many. The poverty trap in the US is systemic there is no way of getting out of it once your in you have to forward borrowed for rent and food you are trapped with only a sliver of hope getting out. In purely economic terms your shooting yourself in the foot by not pulling as many in society out of poverty as possible if you do not and pursue Austerity it just creates more poverty and reduced demand more small businesses go under and larger firms contract that in turn recycles itself into an economy that is on a contracting spiral. You also have a huge increase in social issues such as homelessness crime increases as people become more and more desperate just to put food on the table despair takes hold drug use goes sky high etc.

The most startling example of the Democrats mindset as opposed to the Republican was in the use of the defence production act Trump used it to force meat packing plants open that were riddled with Covid giving the companies a waver against prosecution so the didn't have to shut down when covid cases got out of hand Biden used it to force a drug company rival to pitch in resource to double production.
