The large number of politicians you have is to ensure you have a functioning democracy, while its imperfect it's better than the current GOP vision which appears to be for 1 party rule in that there pushing a theory that need better quality of voters not everyone voting. Bit like the Chinese communist party system where the elites are party members who choose thier leader.
