@nielss2773 as someone with a degree in economics I wish people would stop pontificating with thier Gut or how they Feel something should work. It's nonsense that pervades into a common view but is complete bollox. The social safety net increases economic mobility · Lifts people out of poverty · Brings poor children into the middle class · Promotes economic growth Also lots of poor people are a drain on the economy because levels of crime, child abuse, drug and alcohol abuse all rise so you end up with more and more people in prison, high levels of reoffending and increased costs in policing.
