My son has Autism, it took nearly a year of hard graft from me and I'm retired to get him a job, his main issue is he can be very non verbal. I read books went through online material putting together a package for a prospective employer, got him some voluntary work for experience and then wrote around. He is now 4 years employed been employee of the year and is happy, BUT he needed so much support to get there this year at 25 he past his driving test thanks to his boss insisting he needed to take it to drive the estate machinery. H now drives to work and is nearly independent. I retired early and had endless time and resource to throw at this but without support with detailed knowledge of Autism a plan for employers this would never have happened. People with special needs NEED support not kicking off the benefit system because they don't have it.
