I'm a retired boomer bought my house cost 3.5 times my salary Interest rates were at 8% at the time though. I also got free higher education, tax free savings and low tax paid for by Maggy with oil money and asset stripping. Granted I had a decent job but there is little excuse from my generation about paying more tax and given how ISA'S are tax free i don't pay much of that either

@Pegaroo_ the council near me allowed a large development in one of the surrounding villages. 70% were bought up by people renting them out as Air B n B One of the main issues is during Cov the 3/4 of a trillion that was pumped into the economy to keep it ticking over all trickled up. Me personally we didn't go on around 5 foreign holidays, no restaurant's for nearly 2 years, were comfortably off and I'm over 60 probably didn't spend around 50k There's a lot of money sloshing around in the older generation.

@Christina-g4s We paid low tax during the 80's because of Thatchers asset stripping and blowing all our oil money. My son will inherit enough that he will never have to work again. Last year our government spent 72 billion on energy subsidies, our energy bills were sky high as it was. The water companies she flogged off are loaded with 80 billion in debt and aren't fit for purpose.

@ I just poured all the money I could into a SIPP tax and NI free Also Stocks and bonds rose by 25% last year I'm now retired if when my son inherits he will be made for life
