First off the bill is over 10 years and its already been cut back to just over a trillion and in terms of subsidies I agree with the Elec Viking a graduated subsidy based on % of origin would be a better use of funds. Finally means testing wastes more money than it saves in administration and other costs a well off family may buy 1 EV if there's a financial incentive then the entire family will convert to EV's what we want is gas cars off the road. The US has fallen behind in EV's even though Tesla is a world leader, they have the Tech and the knowhow but like has been expressed here you need it built in the US and its easy for the politicians to let this slide away. The Republicans are beholden to the fossil fuel industry so currently you have 1 side arguing with itself on the best way forward.
