@YorickReturns private healthcare system would increase taxes, there are millions of people who don't have enough income to afford a plan Pensioners for one kids for another

@laurencesmith1435 private health won't cover preexisting condition It won't insure pensioners at the same rates as young people It becomes mind numbingly expensive for the government and the economy, you have low wage people that can't afford insurance ending up on benefits because treatable conditions are left to get worse. You have huge amounts of government money going to private health to treat pensioners.

@AyyyVik privatising the NHS wouldn't reduce the tax burden it would stay the same + your paying insurance The 10's of thousands of voulenteers would leave the NHS and the services they provide would go. The cheapest way of paying for health is through taxation I don't think you grasp the scale of poverty in the UK or the number of pensioners a new system would have to support through taxation which would funnel vast sums of money to the private sector

@AyyyVik then do the math and don't spout right wing rubbish

@AyyyVik I'm not left of Liberal I'm retired worked in IT all my life my decisions are data driven. A private system would be at least +50% on the current NHS and the State would have to pay for millions who couldn't afford insurance. There's a working population of 32 million 8.1 million are classed as in work poverty and 14.4 million classed as in poverty overall. What little you would gain would be quickly eaten away by rising costs of an aging population and once it was sold off your into a situation where you are committed to funnel government money permenantly to profit driven entities. Look at council house sales, the stock has been lowered by transferring it to the private sector so councils have a funding gap where they used to get rent + they are now paying 20 billion in housing support to the private sector.

@AyyyVik looking at this further your also moving uk assets to private companies many of which are Foreign, thier profits will be siphoned offshore removing them from the UK economy. Even a small drop in gdp of say 2.5% your looking at a loss in taxation to the treasury of 20 billion a year every year

@AyyyVik by not having a healthy workforce albeit a poor one your damaging the economy, more man days off sick even greater levels of poverty driving up crime which costs the state again in lost GDP having to increase police and prison spacee etc. It's estimated Osborne's defunding the justice system during Austerity costs 500 billion in lost gdp Ever wonder why your tax is going up and your getting less? The fact is the economy is shrinking on a per capita basis.
