It gets traded on the world commodity market and aside from that extraction, processing and transportation go up in price year on year while renewable energy comes down in price.

@NatMart9394 battery prices have dropped by 50% in the last 18 months Bloomberg have estimated that they will halve in price and double in capacity in the next few years Domestic and grid scale mass storage will revolutionise the grid and transport.

@ianbayliff2397 the grid needs upgrading and old generation plant is retiring, usual Tory thing let the privatised utilities milk old plant and not invest giving shareholders maximum returns

What difference does that make? Renewable infrastructure prices have been falling, just put a solar / battery install on my house 3 years ago payback was 15 years now its 6 estimated saving of the system 44,000

Why because you've bought into a narrative? Uk government spent 72 billion in energy subsidies in 2023 if we'd had a renewable grid that figure would have been zero It also fed into 11% inflation

@NatMart9394 You can't avoid the fact that wind and the sun are free and GAS + Coal is not it goes up with extraction, processing transport x inflation. Every year fossil goes up while wind and the sun maintains the same price as input sources as in free. Also capital costs are still falling for renewables. Given how cheap batteries are becoming and how easy it is to deploy them it's a complete no brainer

@Ren-pn4bo If we had a shortage of raw materials then battery prices would be going up not plummeting. and Are you starting a free the Robot cause your comment on labour makes no sense.

@Tony-zg4yf whatever there are other materials you can make batteries from such as Sodium / Ion and They've just discovered the worlds biggest lithium deposits in the US. also Before long they will be able to split Lithium from salt water why the Ludite attitude?

@nothingtoseehere999 Mine will save me £44,000 over their 25 year life That doesn't take into account of inflation Oh boy it really is free, 19 years of free energy
