@derekcable I'm on Octopus Flux my old rate was 24p per kwh my current rate is 13p per kwh which I use if I need to time shift consumption or top up my batteries

I'm already getting cheap energy because of it you need to stop listening to muppets like these

I have a home solar batter system installed this year capital costs will be repayed in 6 years total estimated saving on bills over it's lifetime £44,000 why is doing the same to the grid a waste of money?
3
Battery prices fell by 50% over the last 18 months if Mass storage was used on the grid it would save a Fortune Payback on the solar battery system I installed a couple of months ago has dropped to under 6 years, what is wrong with you people when facts appear to not matter a jot?
1
In what way? I'm already getting cheap electricity because of our move to renewables
1
@ryanlongley5052 no There are loads of people who have gone down the solar / battery / ev route who get cheap off peak energy courtesy of off peak always on wind. I pay a maximum of 7p per kwh because I can timeshift usage.

@derekcable octopus offer funky tariffs to those with solar and battery systems my tariff is down from 24p to 13p if I need to top up my batteries. Go check out thier website then plug the capital cost v payback into a spreadsheet

@lesigh1749 No they aren't what?
1
@derekcable There's nothing stopping you getting batteries or solar or both

@LifesAbe-ach it's now dirt cheap and far more efficient than it used to be, my 10 panel system generates enough for 9 months of the year the guy over the road has 20 the slightest bit of winter sun and he's full for the day What makes it work is cheap battery storage.
1
@jenlong8568 I had a system installed a couple of months ago prices have come down and efficiency has gone up, according to my figures I won't need the grid for 70% of the time, it's a small system as well, it will save me around £1300 a year.

@SIMONWINTER-m6d They can't tax the energy I produce time shift and consume at home And It's more expensive for the energy companies to turn off or dump excess power than to sell it cheap off peak, during Cov prices went negative at certain times during the night.
1
@SIMONWINTER-m6d You'll find there are certain things where it costs more to do something than what you get in return this is one of them.

how's brex1t going? it only quadrupled legal and illegal migration so what other brain fart ideas will nige saddle us with?
1
