Comments by "Greg Greg" (@SlowhandGreg) on "“A Thorn In Keir Starmer’s Side!” Labour Faces Backlash After Natalie Elphicke Defects From Tories" video.
Small boat problem has exploded after we left the EU, Starmer wants closer cooperation with the EU Borders have 2 sides something the thiko brex1teers don't seem to realise And labour aren't for letting them in there for for processing them in a timely manner and shutting down the smuggling

Thatcher is why we are here, the root causes of our economic woes

@Noel-ji8nm I'm not I'm just pointing out that this is a problem created by the Tories, there were no small boats in 2010

@enigma_-_79 in what way? The Tories deal with problems by trying to Bury them and cut costs, you see this everywhere from defunding police and border agencies to defunding school budgets and not replacing RAAC. then applying policies that try push the problem into tomorrow until tomorrow arrives and we have a mess x10 times worse than it should be. The fundemental core problem is the gaslighting and gesture politics that give the illusion that we don't have to accept refugees At the end of the day numbers will be lower with labour because they will deal with the problem not pretend you can stop it by being as cruel cynical and stupid as possibe

@jamonit7169 left wing activists want? That's a figment of the right wing media. Starmer has already said he would beef up the border force which the Tories have defunded over time and negotiate with the french to criminally go after the gangs. The usual Tory method of standing on the beach and commanding the tide not to come in doesn't work

@brianf3207 In today's money she asset stripped the uk of 1.3 trillion, under taxed north sea oil by 1/2 a trillion and spent the equivalent of 3.5% of gdp in oil receipts on tax cuts. Right to buy has stripped 2 million homes from the public sector with rent and property prices rising by 66% from 2010 to current with zero wage growth Councils are spending 20 billion a year on housing support to the private sector and energy customers spent 170 billion in 2023 up from 30 billion in 2020, oh and our rivers are full of sh1t This is Thatchers legacy

@brianf3207 she bribed a generation with thier own money and asset stripped the country for future generations as well as wasting an oil legacy on unrepeatable tax cuts instead of investment in infrastructure. Lack of housing costs councils 20 billion in support a year and selling off utilities creates a 50 billion black hole in government budgets as well as burdening uk customers with high utility bills. Public transport is a joke this is Thatchers legacy.

@brianf3207 as for smashing the unions the north south divide is now that big economists compare it to the difference between east/west Germany at the start of reunification and since then Germany has spent 2 trillion on leveling up. We've had successive Tory governments pounding the economy into stagnation trying to recreate a low tax model that is un recreatable resulting in the fantasy that is brex1t

@brianf3207 the capitalist ladder only works with a proper social floor, defund the floor and the ladder becomes unobtainable for millions. It's an act of economic self harm in that money spent on that social floor is amplified many times over in increased GDP. That floor includes housing, public transport, investment in education, childcare and infrastructure. People bang on about welfare but 40% of claimants are in work, people out of work can be unemployed for a variety of reasons including mobility inability to relocate because of housing and transport, Ill health needing treatment or disabled needing in work support as well as retraining and skills update. My 1st job was in Doncaster in the early 80's Thatcher just left people to rot, Blair repaired the social floor then Osborne and Cameron cut it to the bone and promoted low wage eu migration into the gig economy. People from the 80's who had picked themselves up gotten by as private hire drivers saw thier jobs gone again breeding the rise of u k I p.
