@fatshartspunhouse2403 your clutching at straws here. There's nothing stopping him passing it on to child all they have to do is live for 7 years after. Reason this needs to be is it's being abused by rich people who are driving up land prices and making family farming unviable

@fatshartspunhouse2403 the tax exemption has caused money to flood in raising land prices. 1/2 of England is owned by 1% of the population The average farm value is 2.2 million but you inherit your spouses allowance for iht on their death so technically you can get away with 20% on 200,000 We have an area the size of greater London given over to grouse shooting, personally I'd look at breaking up crown estates as well. Thatcherism has given my generation everything at the expense of future generations. Cheap subsidised housing, tax exempt savings, low tax paid for with oil money and asset stripping, free University etc. If you don't address the imbalance you'll get the rise of Populism, weather that's the watered down kind in Corbyn and Johnson or the fash lite in Farage
