the Tories have abandoned any meaningful renewable strategy. For the record there's around a 100 billion in fossil subsidies in various budgets. Renewables are 2.5 times cheaper than its nearest rival nuclear The UK energy sector will make 170 billion in excess UNTAXED profits over 2 years And The Tories are getting donations from the fossil companies

renewables are the cheapest form of power on the grid have been since 2019 the reason we don't have more is Tory policy which has tied us to Gas The Tories have also baked in 100 of billions of pounds in subsidies to the fossil industry Norway has produced slightly less Oil from its fields yet over the years has collected 500 billion more in tax from them than the UK.

The UK energy market will make 170 Billion in excess profits over the next 2 years because we are tied to gas for electricity generation and the government refuses to implement a proper windfall tax The government are also giving billions in subsidies to the fossil industry and renewable energy became the cheapest on the grid back in 2019 it is currently x2.5 cheaper than coal and nuclear If we don't address the climate crisis we will have mass immigration on a level that makes the current problem look like chicken feed

@tonyjefferson3502 There are no subsidies for wind turbines that's not how the energy market works The various suppliers buy energy on a forward contract price the government can guarantee that forward contract price like they have done with Hinkley C at currently 100p + per kilowatt hour. Average forward contract price for renewables is around 40p per kilowatt hour and gas hasn't been that cheap since 2019 Coal is more expensive than Nuclear last I looked Tax breaks are subsidies to an industry, Norway has produced slightly less Oil from its fields yet over the years has collected 500 billion more in tax from them than the UK. Everything a government does has an economic multiplier for example investing in a bridge will generate > 1 if its in the right place generating enough additional GDP to offset the cost of the infrastructure that is no different for tax breaks. In this case the economic multiplier for fossil subsidies is around 0.5 so for every £1 the government gives away in subsidies it only generates 50p in additional GDP with a deficit cost of -50p.

@jimskirtt5717 yes it is pollution is a huge contributor and its a lot easier to alter local microclimates by removing pollution also Trees, green roofs, and vegetation can help reduce urban heat island effects by shading building surfaces, deflecting radiation from the sun, and releasing moisture into the atmosphere.

@alejandropalazonurtubi3520 The reason for banning older cars is the levels of pollution related illnesses in urban conurbations

@Srb1973 They care about the costs to the health service which gets funded through taxation
