The Financial Times reported earlier this week (29 March) that senior officials in government are “sympathetic” to the idea of imposing further delays to the checks, which are due to come into place from 1 July 2022. Warning While some industry figures are in favour of an extension, the BVA is warning that delaying checks could have serious consequences for the UK’s biosecurity, and increase the threat of the incursion of devastating diseases such as African swine fever.
