We now have the tech to move off fossil EV's are hitting the bottom of the S curve, renewables already 1/2 the cost of fossil per kilowatt hour There are numerous ways of reducing car usage as well

The economy is fragmented into many parts you'll get one part in a recession another part booming like manufacturing decline but Tech booming even those lines are blurry Renewables were already picking up pace and we have the tech to produce EV's at scale and cost it could be the cost shove to accelerate what was already happening

Drive less use one car, I live in a middle class area 2/3 cars per family really large gas guzzlers so that mommy takes kids to school instead of walking or catching the bus This isn't new we've been here before and didn't address the problem last time the reason we're in this hole is because we waste tons of energy because it's cheaper than building fuel efficient homes and cars well not anymore

@pinkcrayon1382 the car industry has deliberately lobbied against susidised urban public transport infrastructure projects that would save a phenomenal amount of money at a stroke reducing fuel usage and congestion. I utterly dispair at the lack of critical thinking the recoup with lost costs from road maintenance lost work hours due to delays etc. Anyway I bought an ebike conversion kit last year it been a revaluation even have a trailer now to do the weekly shop I'm over 60 if I can do it then so can a lot of people.

@243wayne1 more of it is starting to come from renewables, there's loads of projects due to come on line in the next few years as the cost per kilowatt hour is about half of fossil before the current crisis
