@pavlovsdog5020 Heavy industry went because of Thatcherism. Nothing to do with joining the EU It was a political choice at the time Believe it or not our car industry had started making a recovery till 2016 when it started to decline again wonder what happened in 2016 to put off car manufacturers from investing in the UK?

We can't make it in the UK and export it because of brex1t, we were warned about manufacturing back in 2016 and in 2026 we can no longer export to the EU without punitive tariffs On June 30, 2026 the carbon border adjustment mechanism (CBAM) will be fully operational. (CBAM) applies a charge to carbon emitted during the production of imported carbon-intensive goods, such as aluminium, cement, iron and steel.

Port Talbot is closing because of brex1t and the EU carbon tariffs coming in in 2026

Because they don't do detail and what there saying is basically rubbish steel is closing because of brex1t and the carbon tariffs being imposed on imports to the EU in 2026 making the export of steel and products made from coke steel uneconomic

@TruthHurts-s7g Studied Economics back at college am now retired get most of my financial data from reliable sources I have pensions and savings to manage in my retirement. You wish to refute the evidence and believe in charlatans, what did you think would happen when we erected trade barriers with our closest market?
1
@TruthHurts-s7g so carbon taxes to your main export market + tarrifs on products made from coked steel isn't the reason manufacturing is leaving the UK? Yea right dream on

@TruthHurts-s7g When the truth differs from your worldview you make an excuse to explain it away. The only person your fooling is yourself

@nathaniziah They are offering simplistic solutions to complex socio-economic problems Every time the Cons have adopted a ukip / reform policy its backfired Take for example removing FOM and introducing a Points based system the net result was legal migration quadrupled. Experts warned back in 2019 it would go up but we were told that we have had enough of experts

@englishbob9492 brex1t got over the line as a consequence of Austerity and Camerons unwillingness to regulate labour markets especially in the GiG economy, near on 1 million arrived in a short period from 2010-15 working on low pay zero hour contracts for multi nationals who offshore all the profits. We always had the tools to keep migration at certain levels and the lack of regulation coupled with wage suppression sent it off the charts fueling UKIP. Migration is a feature of a right wing deregulated economy not a bug which is why it exploded when we left the EU.

@englishbob9492 Your backing the Arsonists who started the economic fire in the 1st place. They don't have answers all of their policies would make things worse. Ex in their manifesto they had unfunded tax cuts to the tune of 100 billion, Truss tried this far right rubbish and wiped 425 billion off the value of pensions in 6 weeks. They get serious funding from the fossil lobby Our energy is the most expensive in Europe because net zero initiatives have been consistently rolled back since 2010 tying us to GAS not the other way round Etc

@angelaregan475 EU carbon tariffs applied to 3rd countries from June 2026

@martyy4073 what's normal about gaslighting and grandstanding your voters They get a degree in Bullsh1t?

Steel is closing down in the UK because of Brex1t These people were warned in 2016 that manufacturing in the UK would be largely closed down if we left the EU On June 30, 2026, the carbon border adjustment mechanism (CBAM) will be fully operational. (CBAM) applies a charge to carbon emitted during the production of imported carbon-intensive goods, such as aluminium, cement, iron and steel. Due to tariffs our exports become uneconomical Why did Lee forget to mention that? Does he have an agenda perhaps such as his party gets large donations from the fossil lobby?
