I never thought I would find myself in much agreement with the Supreme Pontiff - but in this case he is absolutely right.

You really must stop confusing Hitler with Putin. Entirely different blokes.

Russia has had its terms set out for at least three years, It would be as well to stick with them since at the moment it seems likely that Putin will gain more militarily than he asked for diplomatically.

Shh. They wouldn't listen. Ukraine on the other hand....

@alienthed.e.i.9165 They need everyone they can get at this stage!
3
No it isn't. Putin and Hitler are different blokes

@timmcardle5764 Russia does not nor ever has wanted Kiev.

@Pat20247 Can you get it through your head that someone who disagrees with you is not a Russian troll? Like me HE IS JUST SOMEONE WHO DISAGREES WITH YOU!!!

@timmcardle5764 You might need to think things through a little more intelligently. The Russian army marched in convoy towards Kiev simply to draw the Ukrainians into battle on their own territory. The Ukrainians were actually massing their new super-dooper billion dollar army on the southern border preparatory, it seemed, to attempting to retake Donbass from the Russian-backed separatists who held it, and maybe move on to Crimea also. This would have meant the fighting taking place on Russian territory. As it is the fighting took place on Ukrainian territory and the super-dooper army was considerably reduced - which was the objective of the first stage of the war - NOT taking Kiev. I hope this has been of some help to you.

@timmcardle5764 Not even there. You might say that both are patriotic and even ruthless, but that's as far as it goes.

@Pat20247 Why are you people so brainwashed that you cannot understand that people who disagree with you are not paid Russian agents but SIMPLY PEOPLE WHO DISAGREE WITH YOU??!!!???

@Pat20247 Will it teach me that Hitler and Putin are the same person, or even particularly similar? I doubt it.

@StelvioSteve-j2h Both patriots. Both ruthless - but Hitler was in his 50s and looking to expand the Reich to take over the world. Putin is in his seventies and just wants America to stop hassling him.

@StelvioSteve-j2h I don't think Putin is a megalomaniac. He's just patriotic and rather ruthless The differences between Putin and Hitler far outweigh any slight similarities though. There's their age for a start. Putin doesn't want to take over the world either, or massacre Jew. Basically he just wants to be left alone.

@StelvioSteve-j2h I don't think Putin is a megalomaniac. He's just patriotic and rather ruthless. He doesn't want to take over the world like Hitler did, and nor does he have a bit of a thing about Jews. In fact the differences between the two men far outweigh any similarities.

@Asdfgghhhjj I suppose you're referring to the Minsk agreements which the West used to buy time to build a new Ukrainian army. Russia's position remains broadly the same, as I see it. Then they wanted recognition of Crimea as Russian (which it is) and for the two Donbass republics to become independent, thus enabling them to maintain commercial relations with Russia. Ukraine has to keep out of NATO of course. The problem now is that Russia has laid claim to two other oblasts in Eastern Ukraine as well as the two which it wanted originally to be independent, and occupies about half of each of them. They have representatives in the Russian parliament and I can't see Putin wanting to give them up, but they might be bargaining chips I suppose.

@tnndll4294 The reason NATO exists is to provide career opportunities for the Western military and guarantee profits for Western arms manufacturers, as well as giving the opportunity to import American "culture" into sad and backward European countries. As for the anthem - same tune, very different lyrics. The tune has stirred Russian hearts since the 1930's and Putin sensibly didn't change it.
