  1. It will evade vaccines; that is more or less certain. The virus will find away round every obstacle we put in its path - nature and evolution insist this be so. All we can hope for is that new variants, while inevitably more transmissible, will actually be less virulent.

  2. The senior health officials in S Africa say that so far all the cases are very mild. Fingers crossed. More transmissible but less virulent is the way the virus OUGHT to be developing, but there are no guarantees.

  3.  @donaldducko6580  The trend is towards milder and milder, but there can be the occasional nasty bump on the road -though always short-lived, I believe.
