In the 11th and 12th centuries Greenland was occupied by a large colony of Vikings who built farms and churches and even a cathedral They planted ash trees on the graves of their dead which grew to such a size that their roots broke and twisted the skeletons within. There are no trees nor cornfields in Greenland now.

Tyros 43 Yes to the planting. Grain seeds have been found in glacial and seabed sediments. And if the tax collectors visited what form of tax do you think they were after? Grain of course. They wouldn't take a cheque, would they? The settlements lasted for almost three hundred years and largely failed due to climate change. From warm to cold. Just as is store for us before very long. (I think you have been watching a climate alarmist video designed to minimise this embarrassing contradiction to their crackpot theories..)

Jon 66 Their study, like present studies, was based on laboratory experiments which take no account of complex cosmic influences.

Quan V The earth is getting warmer, The myth is that humans are causing it.

Cogle_arts Thanks for that, I will.

This is wonderful initiative -but does it go far enough? Climate change denial is already widely accepted as a form of child abuse. Children should be encouraged to report any adult they hear voicing anti AGW ideas to their UN approved climate change teacher who can then take appropriate action. This might include posting the offending adult's picture and personal details on various websites or, even more effectively, arranging for children to picket the offender's home with suitable placards and chants. In time of course such views will be made illegal and defined as hate speech, in which case the teacher should report the crime immediately to the police.

I was jubilant this morning, Now I'm a little sad to see how these decent people have all been so badly let down by their party. I think the truth is that the Conservative party has adapted to a changing world, while Labour has not, It has outlived its usefulness. and must be replaced by a more pragmatic, dogma-free organisation if democracy is to survive in this country.
1
Rene Moncayo Pretty much, yes. Go for evolved solutions. Adapt. Stop believing you have all the answers. Stop thinking something is right because it gives you a nice fuzzy feeling inside. That sort of thing.

Keadin Mode Nothing is permanent in nature. If previous patterns are repeated the world will grow a little warmer yet before a quite rapid cooling period begins.

Jon 66 The results of laboratory experiments based in the behaviour of carbon in an enclosed surface environment do, however, play an integral part in all climate models predicting "hot" climate warming I believe. If this behaviour is not matched by carbon's behaviour in the real atmosphere then the usefulness all such models must be questioned. In addition, when empirical data from weather stations, balloons and satellites is regularly "adjusted" or "homogenized" before being included in such models then any claims to a true or realistic result must be treated with extreme suspicion.

Quan V I don't think we are. The process is natural and cyclic and the IPCC is lying through its teeth - as are NASA etc. If you put bad data into powerful computers then you're going to get some very peculiar results. If you then put those peculiar results into the next generation models the results are going to get even more peculiar. What if carbon in the atmosphere doesn't behave in the same way as it dose in contained surface-bound laboratory experiments? What then?
