  1. As an interesting corollary referencing an earlier form of transport there was once a black lock-keeper on the Grand Union Canal at Harefield, Middlesex. His lock was called Black Jack's Lock. He has no plaque. Instead the lock has been renamed Jack's Lock in the interests of racial harmony.
