@user-vc5zt9ci12 I don't see why. They were all once under strict Russian control as part of the former Soviet Union. The Russian Federation has merely sought to retain some of that influence. This is not expansionism.

@user-vc5zt9ci12 I think the Russian empire, both Tsarist and Soviet, is long gone and they realise it. I tend to believe Putin when he says that while it might be a romantic notion to bring them back, it is neither practical nor even desirable to do so. I think the present effort to claw back a little corner of Ukraine to which Russia feels entitled is sufficient proof that it wouldn't be achievable anyway. Keeping the Russian "threat" alive really exists only for the benefit of Western warmongers, locked into the idea of perpetual conflict for economic reasons.

@user-vc5zt9ci12 Russia is merely trying to maintain its commercial and strategic interests against continual interference from the West which, not content with the collapse of the Soviet Union, wants the Russia Federation to be subject to US hegemony. This kind offer is one which Russia continues to refuse. I sympathise with this view.
