  1. The planned re-organisation will obviously be designed to de-democratise local authorities and hand even more power to unelected officials. This has been a Labour strategy since the days of Blair and many career bureaucrats at local level are members of various clubs and organisations dedicated to this purpose. To them, elected councillors are just a nuisance and they feel can do the job much better without them.
