Why?

@ray-wm7yd I quite agree. There is no logical reason why we should support Ukraine.

Do deals with Russia. That should fix it.
4
@ Why not? We get cheap gas and the threat of Russia bombing us is lifted forever.

@ People who cannot think beyond an absurd historical analogy are the ones who are naive.

NATO has outlived its usefulness. It is now little more than a glorified protection racket. As for Britain, our leaders have made the huge mistake of believing that the war in Ukraine was some kind of moral crusade instead of the egregious US takeover bid it actually was. We are now high and dry. Only a seismic shift in attitude and policy can save us from economic ruin and possible annihilation.

@Geffo555 Putin has no intention of expanding anywhere. Over-expansion was one of the reasons for the collapse of the Soviet Union and he doesn't want the same thing to happen to the Russian Federation. Putin is entirely moderate by Russian standards. The thing is he wants his country to be strong and independent and not just another lapdog of Washington or Brussels.

@ Putin doesn't even want all of Ukraine, let alone Finland and Poland.
1
@ Compared to many political figures in Russia Putin IS a moderate!

@stevebarlow3154 Oh dear God! If I hear another idiotic comparison between the situation in Ukraine and Hitler and Putin I swear I might go mad! Try to think things through, why don't you, and list the dozens of difference compared with the one or two spurious similarities?

@ That is complete Rubbish. Ukraine isn't going to fall and Putin doesn't even want it too. Look at the trouble he's having getting back the Russian bits - which is all he wants. Hitler was in his forties and Germany had been traumatised by losing a crippling war. Hitler himself had fought all the way through it. He wanted revenge and he blamed the Jews for his country's ills. He wrote a book outlining how Germany needed to expand and get rid of the Jews in the process. Putin is in his seventies and has been forced into the grim necessity of war to protect Russia's long-standing interests in the mineral wealth of Eastern Ukraine. In his writings he explains clearly how Ukraine can do whatever it wants - but it can't take the essentially Russian bits of their new country with it. Putin doesn't want to conquer the world. He just wants the world to leave his country alone.

@ People who liken Putin to Hitler and imagine what is happening in Ukraine is "history repeating itself" have cornered the market in naivety, it seems to me.

@ Who is the "he" ? Putin and Hitler are different people, you realise.

@paulvr3158 You don't know what is.

@ Yes. It's a buzzword for everything muddlebrained leftoids dislike or can't understand.

@stu281 It beats me. There must be something lacking in their brains. It's as though they've never quite grown up.
