You think America is a democracy???

Yeah, and who started it?

@BrazenBull91 Sadly my lengthier replies keep getting deleted by YouTube's new fascist algorithm. Simply put, what we have here is a group of people who want to exterminate another group of people on largely religious grounds. These people don't want to be exterminated, and things have come to a point where they have little choice but to exterminate the first group first. That about covers it, I think.

@audreymcgready4329 My days of being brainwashed are long over, I'm pleased to say. I really don't see how anyone who has studied to any degree the history of this area can do anything but conclude that the Arabs are the prime movers of conflict, motivated as they are by Medieval-style religious convictions, whereas the Israelis just want to build a modern country. Good luck to them, I say.

@BrazenBull91 It matters.

@audreymcgready4329 And learn the history of Palestine? People should.

@sososoprano1 That is only part of the story. And what is a "Palestinian" anyway? This whole area was impoverished and vastly underpopulated under the aegis of the declining Ottoman Empire. Only between half a million to a million lived there and a high percentage of them were Jews. Then Zionism came along. The Zionists actually bought large tracts of land from their Ottoman owners and began a process of transforming a derelict semi-desert into thriving farmland. Arabs flooded in from neighbouring countries, either as labourers or in some cases as actual invaders. Today's "Palestinians" are largely the descendants of these people. If it wasn't for Jews they wouldn't be there. The wave of Jewish settlers which occurred after the horror of the Holocaust created enormous problems all round, and things were done on both sides which, in retrospect, were utterly shameful. But the over-riding factor in my view is that the Muslims hate the Jews for religious reasons. The more extreme among them -who have the whip hand, sadly - want them all dead. The Jews on the other hand are quite happy to live side by side with Arabs as long as they behave themselves, work hard and don't steal from them or threaten to kill them. I sincerely hope and pray that the Arabs will eventually be able to cast off their religious prejudices and take part properly in the great experiment which is the creation of the state of Israel. As things stand, however, they have to accept the consequences of their attitude and actions. They have given the Israelis no real alternative.

@sososoprano1 This was only part of the problem, as I'm sure you realise. My original reply has been deleted by YouTube's new fiercely fascist, pro Arab algorithm, but I hope I can say that once the religious element is removed from the Arabs' attitude towards the Jews there is a real chance that peace might be achieved.

@GillianBailey-s9z From your comment I doubt you know much of the history of the region, only those parts of it doled out to you by Arab propaganda,
1
@sososoprano1 Israel and the Zionists have, in the past, bent over backwards to establish cordial relations with the Arabs (who make up some 20% of the population, by the way). Unfortunately, religious prejudice has forced the Muslims to heed the voices of extremism and all such efforts have been met with violent opposition. What is happening now in Gaza (donated freely to the Arabs by Israel, incidentally) the Arabs have brought upon themselves by decades of unreasonable and often cruel behaviour.

@GillianBailey-s9z Mere buzzwords.

@sososoprano1 What is happening now in Gaza is the result of decades of Muslim extremists failing to listen to reason and preventing their more moderate brothers and sisters from enjoying Israel's proffered hand of friendship.
1
@sososoprano1 I have. It is clear to me that the current "good guy, bad guy" narrative is far from the truth. The history of Zionism and the Arab reaction to it put both the events of 1948 and subsequent conflicts into a somewhat different perspective. Unfortunately the new YouTube algorithm, being both fascist and pro-Arab, prevents me from going into further detail.
1
@sososoprano1 I have. Once again the deeply sinister new YouTube algorithm has deleted my previous replies, but I hope I can safely say that the foundations of the present horrors were laid long before the Balfour Declaration. Even subsequent events are the result of the intractability of certain people who adhere to a somewhat questionable version of reality created over a thousand years ago.

@sososoprano1 I have. The deeply sinister new YouTube algorithm has, however, several times prevented me from sharing it with you. All I can say is that you are, like so many people, probably looking at a very broad picture through a very small peephole.
1
@prano1 I have. I've several times tried to share my findings with you, but YouTube's new algorithm has decided you must be kept in ignorance.

Of course the Moslems want to take over. It says so in the Koran and no amount of moral obfuscation will alter that fact.

It really isn't these people. They are victims too - victims of power-mad religious loonies they just can't seem to get rid of.
