  10. The mines are owned by Russian companies. It was the prospect of having them stolen and given to the US which made Putin invade.

  11. The difference is that Russian oligarchs already owned most it it. Russia has been mining this area for centuries. It was the prospect of Ukraine nationalising the mines and selling them off the the Americans which caused Putin to invade, in order to prevent it.
