  9.  @terryhand  "Misinformation" is a purely subjective term. Okay, it is perfectly possibly for someone to tell a lie in order to advance some personal or political objective. It is equally possible to advance an untruth because you genuinely believe it to be true. It is also possible for someone to speak a truth which other people incorrectly believe to be a lie. And this is where the danger arrives, because separating these several strands is well-nigh impossible. They all impinge upon each other. Very much the safest option is to allow people to say more or less whatever they like without any attempt to restrict them via legal means.

  15.  @emm_arr  But it is true. One man's misinformation is another man's objective truth. To attempt to define the truth by the law is a process fraught with danger. It can very rapidly lead to totalitarianism.
