  1. The Eurovision Song Contest is about the only thing Ukraine's going to win. Kharkiv, like Kiev and the entire first phase of the war, was designed purely to distract and pin down Ukrainian forces while the main Russian objective of securing and extending Donbass was carried out. Very soon Russia will set a front line, dig in and defend it. Ukraine will need lots and lots of heavy weaponry to dislodge them. Providing it will bring NATO and the US dangerously close to the brink of Armageddon. Already sensible voices in Congress questioning the vast expenditure involved and MAGA victories in the midterms will hopefully put paid to this mad adventure once and for all.
