Boris Johnson is a cynical opportunist with a Winston Churchill complex. Trump and Putin, on the other hand, are both essentially pragmatic and unromantic individuals who seek benefit for themselves and for their countries. A rapprochement between Trump and Putin can do nothing other than herald a peaceful future for the Western world.

@ Do you not consider that the Russian Federation is an entirely different animal to the Soviet Union? It certainly seems that way to me.

@ Russia is no different to any other country in this regard. It has to hold on to what it's got - and that's all it is in a position to do. Ukraine - like Chechnya and Georgia -remain under Russian influence. This is entirely different to conquering countries which have no such historic alliance.
