They believe, with some justification, that the Red Cross and other Western aid groups provide cover for CIA infiltrators and the like. Far more war crimes have ben committed in Mariupol by the Azov Battalion than by Russian troops. They have only held the city by introducing a reign of terror. It is a Russian-speaking, Russian majority city where large numbers of residents wish heartily to be rid of the corrupt Ukrainian nationalist government. They were better off under the Soviets, and that's saying something.

@marilenaganea6578 Believe your refugees. Also believe the residents that Lancaster interviews. I'm sure opinion in Mariupol is very divided. As to his sources of income -what relevance do they have? He pushes the separatist agenda, sure, and we in the West need to know more about it. If he relies totally on crowd-funding, or is slipped some roubles by the Kremlin, what matter? He is a damned good journalist as the only one you can rely on to be there on the front line, recording events as they happen.

It is paranoid nonsense to suggest that Putin is embarked on a campaign of genocide in Ukraine He doesn't want Ukraine and never did. He wants Donbass and Crimea, where the largely Russian or Russian sympathising populations have been treated like shit by a shitty, corrupt, gangster-ruled government which is easily as bad as Putin's. The blessed Saint Zelensky is a crook who got the job by passing an audition. His boss, Ifor Kolomoisky, noticing Trump's success in the US, decided that the best way to put a puppet in power was to start him up in his own TV show. To see Ukraine as representing a shining light of democracy and freedom, and Russia as the embodiment of darkness and evil is typical of the childish black and white attitude to politics sadly so often prevalent on this channel.

@ADifferentBias Funny idea of democracy. Every vote is rigged, one way or another. And even if it is true (which it isn't) the democratically-elected president was forced to flee following a US-led coup in 2014 - one of the main causes of the present war.
