Spitfire Hunter It's up to them. But there is no reason at all why Britain should join in the virtue-signalling Olympics. This is America's doing and the EU's too to a certain extent. As for these bombings they are less than the RAF did in Bosnia in 1999 where not only hospitals but refugee convoys were bombed. And don't even mention the Americans.

@Dash8Q400Channel I am fully aware of this - but the NF were motivated by racial hatred. This is a matter of fact. Services and infrastructure are not up to increasing population levels due to mass immigration. And we have no moral obligation towards the unfortunate people of Ukraine

@geoffpoole483 I apologise. I was untidily using Bosnia as a cover-all term for the entire conflict in former Yugoslavia. The incidents I referred to happened in Kosovo/Serbia.

@AM-fs1je It has nothing to do with empathy. I feel pity for the suffering of others as much as anyone. What I hate is when a cause becomes fashionable and the virtue-signalling starts. There are countless millions of starving homeless people in the world. Is it because Ukrainians are pinker than most that they wrench our heartstrings? America and the EU caused this war. It us up to America and the EU to bear the consequences.

Dreadful accidents happen in wars. Altogether, some ninety to 150 civilians died from cluster bomb use by the United States and Britain. I'm not trying to attribute blame - merely stating that these things happen in wars and to suggest that the Russians are deliberately targeting hospitals is pure propaganda. Why would they? "Nato bombers yesterday dropped cluster bombs on a crowded outdoor market and a hospital in the southern Serbian city of Nis, killing at least 15 people and injuring many more, according to Yugoslav officials, independent media, and local residents. 'There is nothing military within a kilometre (half a mile) of it,' mayor Zoran Zivkovic told the Reuters news agency in Belgrade by telephone from the industrial city which has been repeatedly attacked by Nato planes. 'Cluster bombs hit the market, nearby buildings look like Swiss cheese... missiles hit a pathology ward, a parking lot and nearby buildings,' Mr Zivkovic was quoted as saying. 'I saw a dead man with a carrier bag with onions in it.' Three people were reported killed in the hospital and three near it.

Spitfire Hunter Evidence is thrown out of the window when war propaganda begins. One simply has to try to use common sense. Why would Russia bomb a hospital other than accidentally or because it has been taken over for a military purpose? Hospitals and schools are often occupied as barracks or command posts during wars. In Eastern Ukraine, where a largely ignored civil war has been going on for eight years, many schools and other public buildings have been destroyed for this very reason.

Spitfire Hunter You don't know what's going on in Ukraine right now any more than I do. The lies are flying faster than bullets and truth is the first victim of war, as they say. Ukraine posed a very real threat to Russia since it was proposing to add itself to the list of countries on NATO's payroll. Having an enemy base on his doorstep, in territory which, more than any other, Russia feels to be part of its true identity, was laying it on a bit thick. Democracy in Ukraine? You're kidding. It is still one of the most corrupt countries in the world and all elections are fixed. It's run by gangsters and money talks. Right now it belongs to America, which has chucked it down in front of the bear to see how much it bites.

Spitfire Hunter Just as in Ukraine. The leaders of the second largest party in Ukraine have been imprisoned by Zelensky. I believe he did it after the election though, which is some concession to democracy I suppose.

Spitfire Hunter : Viktor Medvedchuk, the leader of Opposition Platform – For Life, the second-largest party in the country’s parliament, was detained by security officials earlier this year on charges of conspiring with Moscow to disrupt coal supplies to Ukraine from South Africa in 2014. He has now been given bail but remains under house arrest awaiting trial. Zelensky has also closed down three TV stations which oppose his Presidency. This is quite normal behaviour in Ukraine.

Spitfire Hunter As I say, this is the normal face of Russian/Ukrainian politics. Whether or not Zelensky is a genuine reformer like Navalny is supposed to be remains very much in doubt. The gangsters who have ruled the place since its creation in 1991 are adept at playing Russia and America off against each other and getting money from both. The EU is in on the act too now, which complicates matters somewhat Both sides jail the opposition as a matter of course. Poroshenko, the guy before Zelensky, who we've been seeing looking all manly and supportive a flak jacket in TV interviews, is also up on charges relating to the coal scandal, as well as various other activities and faces a 15 year jail term. The guy before him is in exile in Russia and has been found guilty of mass murder among other things. There are a hell of a lot of people in jail on false charges and one of the accusations levelled against Zelensky is that he hasn't kept his promise to release them. The general feeling is that if he does so he will have to release people his gang have put there too, and this would never do. Not everything in Ukraine is as black and white as and warm and cuddly as our leaders and our press would like us to believe.
