The fact that the ECHR decides that illegal immigrants are not illegal immigrants is reason enough for Britain to leave it.

@ADifferentBias But if they are not there to explain it, then no explanation is required. Precedent is removed, and actions are taken according to the will of the people, as legislated by their duly elected representatives. This is called democracy, I believe.

@petergaskinuk-1785 Deciding on their legal status is where the problems lie. Admission to this country should be a privilege granted by this county, not a "right" accorded by some exterior body or bodies.

@johnrussell3961 Firstly, by preventing the problem by not allowing them in in the first place. Secondly by insisting upon your own definition, and if the second country refuses to take back any who escape the net, to imprison them as illegal aliens, thus discouraging others from making the same mistake.

@johnrussell3961 There is no problem in ignoring anything the UN says. People do it every day. And why should it matter if no one else accepted our definitions? It's none of their business.

@trident6547 I think we worry too much about what other countries think of us. Is there an "international community", by the way? Or is that just a pretence allowing certain countries to lord it over others?
