@Keyoke200 Russia didn't want Ukraine. Just the Russian bits. Which it has now more or less got.

Trump is far too pragmatic and far too much a genuine man of peace to want to throw good money after bad in this mad venture. Starmer, on the other hand, seems to be a romantic fool still sold on the idea that Russia is a big bad bogey man, while sweet little democracy-loving Ukraine should be given loads of money and missiles. If sanity can prevail in the next few months then we ought to see the reality of the position recognised, with Russia in possession of Donbass and Crimea, with a land bridge between the two. This would be rough justice, but it is justice nonetheless. These areas are as much Russian as they are Ukrainian, if not more so. If this means that Blackrock can't get hold of all that lovely loot in Donbass and that their errand-boy Starmer is in their bad books as a result there is no need to cry any tears over that!

@anglonorse2943 This is neither propaganda nor am I paid for it. It is a realistic assessment of the situation as it stands. Such a pity that you are incapable of criticising it on its own terms, and can only respond with absurdities.

More of a credulous fool, really.
1
Very well said. It's about time these ignorant and uninformed Starmerites were given a few facts.

Even if it's true?

And trousered a million quid for doing it, what's more!

@susannehartl3067 And those "atrocities" were almost certainly staged and - according to rumour and to Lukashenko of Belarus - by the British SAS.
1
@justinmillette9110 And money didn't come into at all, I'm sure. Russia's peace terms were entirely reasonable, as far as one can gather, centring mainly on regional autonomy for Donbass, thus freeing it from EU constraints as agreed eight year before in the Minsk Accords.
1
@ Funny coincidence, that. Of course there can be no possible truth in the claims that Bucha was a staged event.
1
@ Bucha? Convenient timing, wasn't it?
1
@justinmillette9110 But Russia will have no need nor wish to invade Ukraine once it gets Donbass back - although I suppose some of the more hawkish among them will have their eyes on Odessa and possibly Kherson. But I don't blame Russia one bit for nor wanting what was once its own territory becoming an armed camp for its self-declared enemy. As long as Ukraine is an armed force there is a far greater likelihood that it will bow to Western pressure and attempt to retake Donbass and Crimea than there is any chance whatever of Russia attempting further incursions.

@fitzstv8506 But not the influence of what was in his briefcase.
1
Attacked to prevent them attacking, I think.
1
@ZsoltPal23092011 What do you think the Ukrainians were planning to do with their new multi-billion dollar army then? Sit back and let the rebels keep their territory in Donbass?
1
@ How so? I think it very likely that Ukraine was preparing to attack the rebel-held areas of Donbass. Russia certainly thought so.
