Very few people who are not wearing masks now will put them on again. Believe me.

Look on the bright side -just for once. We don't know yet if Omicron is mild or not -but if it is and is also highly transmissible it will mean the end of the pandemic.

@Yeknodathon Merely a traveller down life's highways and byways, searching the hedgerows for scraps of truth. The ole horsepaste (or at least the human version) has saved the populations of Uttar Pradesh ,Goa, and Japan and many others from covid and it might have saved us too if fools like you and Boris Johnson weren't such suckers for Big Pharma's money-grubbing propaganda disguised in dubious, poorly researched papers.
2
Masks are undignified and of extremely dubious value. That's why I suppose. Also rather a sign of cowardice in some people's eyes. And they also hide your stiff upper lip.

I believe the others mean foul and disgusting things in certain languages. Epsilon is a Turkish slang term for a sexual practice to bizarre to even contemplate.
1
@peterdollins3610 The overall trend is always less deadly, however, at least according to Smith's law.
1
@Yeknodathon Very possibly. But at least I have an open mind.
1
@jounik Is that why left wingers are so close-minded and paranoid? Afraid their brains might fall out? That explains a lot.
1
Because they are. Especially if you are fully vaccinated apparently.
1
Didn't you just get over a big surge? How did that happen?
1
But we do know already requires a different approach. It might be even more different when we know more.
1
Nail on head.
1
Perhaps they both learned it isn't as bad as scaremongers make out.
1
Killed by covid hysteria.
1
Only in partnership with Big Pharma.
1
Well, I bet you're glad you got that off your chest.
1
Why god help us? Sound like a good get-out plan to me.
1
@gbphil No reason why it should be if the S Africa figures are anything to go by. The crunch will come when it hits our elderly population though.
1
How about the non-covid death count? Got any explanation for that? It's at least as much above the five-year average as that caused by covid.
1
@MuddyDuck... And this is the result of the hysterical over-reaction to covid, and not to the disease itself. The near-useless "mitigation" measures we have been obsessed with will end up killing at least as many as covid in the long run; young and middle-aged people too, not just mainly the elderly as with covid.
1
@MuddyDuck... The hysterical over-reaction which led to near-useless mitigation measures, naturally enough. It seems that once covid gets in, it's in and that's that. It will spread by sheer force of numbers. When the disease arrived it was supposed that it would affect everyone severely, not just predominantly the very elderly and some younger people with severe medical conditions. Strategies seem to have ignored this latter fact completely. To my mind the ill-fated Great Barrington Declaration got it absolutely right. If some version of that strategy had been employed the pandemic would have long been over.
1
@brigidann23 Don't they? I thought most of them did. It's not an exact parallel of course since they exist mainly to prevent much larger particles than covid virions falling from surgeon's mouths and nostrils. Oddly enough a survey published in 2015 revealed that 4% of surgeons in the UK actually didn't wear masks in theatre and of those who did 20% said they only did so because they thought it was expected of them.
1
We are all dying slowly. Live with it.
1
We certainly can. There's no harm in hoping and there is good reason to. The big problem might be when Omicron hits our elderly population.
1
Er , but surely those who die are immediately replaced by those growing older? Kind of scuppers your theory, that.
1
The long incubation period is supposedly a good thing and related to the apparent mildness of the symptoms. Omicron goes in gentle and takes a long time, as opposed to Delta's brutal in and out. The sexual imagery isn't all that irrelevant since when it's over virus and host part on reasonably friendly terms. The host's immune system has not gone into overdrive and the virus has managed to create a few billion more virions than in a briefer encounter.
1
@billmilligan1705 Interesting. Do you have a source for this?
1
@billmilligan1705 I can't find anything about high heart rate or fluid in the lungs in children, and it seems to contradict official S African accounts of symptoms. Any chance of a specific link? The rest fits - but my guess is the numbers and the R number are even higher.
1
@billmilligan1705 One 6-yr-old child with a high pulse rate seems to be it. I hope you may have got hold of the wrong end of the stick somehow!
1
More than that are dying because covid hysteria has destroyed our healthcare system.
1
So you're scared of a couple of days of aching bones when it's going to make you immune and help run covid out of town? What kind of man are you?
1
With Big Pharma on the board.
