@verystripeyzebra I am flattered to think that I and the highly intelligent Vladimir Putin can arrive separately at the same conclusions.

@Lynnefromlyn I disagree. The EU is not only a failure, it is inimical to world peace as the war in Ukraine clearly illustrates.

You're getting obsessed! I defy you to link any of my opinions with Russian agiprop (whatever that is)

Why rejoin a failing entity?

@emm_arr It's an anachronism.

@emm_arr The EU is a construct of the years immediately following the end of World War II. In essence the motives behind it were noble. But history and human greed have overtaken it. It has become a vehicle for bureaucratic excess and overweening political ambition. It is dangerous. Without it, there would be no war in Ukraine and no economic collapse in Greece or societal collapse in the Republic of Ireland, to name but three of the most obvious disasters it has engendered.

@Lynnefromlyn I don't think it is. The EU has been an experiment based on the noblest of motives, but which has turned into a nightmare. Without it there would be no war in Ukraine, people in Greece would be able to afford groceries and rural communities in Ireland would not be rioting against their oppressors. It exists now mainly to provide bureaucrats with obscenely huge salaries and to threaten world peace with is federalist/imperialist ambitions.

@emm_arr Still no arguments then?

@emm_arr And STILL no argument - only another pathetic, childish insult.

@verystripeyzebra But I arrive at my views quite independently. That they may coincide with those of the Russian government is exactly that - coincidental.

It puzzles me that anyone should still regard the Daily Telegraph as an organ of British Conservatism. It is a total mess. A pathetic, bleating shadow of its former self. As far as future alliances are concerned, Britain cannot possibly join the dying duck that is the EU. If, by God's grace, Trump is re-elected then we must join with him in helping create a new commercially viable world in which old associations are cast aside and new ones created. This means acknowledging the BRICS nations as a vital force with which America, Britain and the SEPARATE nations of Europe must form a working relationship.

@emm_arr Grown a brain yet?

And now we have another bunch of stupid children. Makes you sick, doesn't it?
