This is such nonsense! He waved the threat of tariffs and got what he wanted!

Do you not think have allies on the other sides of the borders might help?

What Musk is doing isn't exactly being covered up, is it? And you seem to ignore the fact that, at a stroke, Trump has got both Canada and Mexico to man-up on drug and people smuggling.
1
You're weird.

It was a victory. The tariff threat was a kick up the backside. Without it both Mexico and Canada would still be dithering.
1
@gregc.5684 Lol as much as you like. That's what has happened.
1
@LR1234-v4r Not yet. But he's getting Zelensky to cough of some of the trillions in rare earth minerals lying around Ukraine. Tariffs are a threat strategy and little more. Trump just beefs them up to make the threat more effective.
1
@ I have done. The tariff threats have forced Mexico and Canada to immediately implement strategies which were mainly purely at the discussion stage. Without those threats we'd still be faffing around a year from now, if not longer.
1
@handarokadath1515 In the same way a cop backs down when he puts his gun back in his holster after a suspect surrenders?
1
@ After he'd got what he wanted.
1
@ADifferentBias They may have agreed - but were they going to actually do it?
1
What tariff money? There isn't any.
1
When was this crash? I must have missed it.
1
Phil is wrong to say the anti-smuggling measures were already agreed by Canada and Mexico. Talks had taken place and some measures were in the pipeline but the tariff threat has ensured their immediate implementation.
1
@ My information is different then. Google's bot is normally quite efficient but I doubt very much that your information would suggest that the measures are going to be in place within thirty days.
1
Why do so many commentators suffering from TDS not realise that this is about ideology, not trade, and it is merely the THREAT of tariffs which gets Trump what he wants? Which it has in each one of these instances.
1
@ It still has one, if you look.
1
What was the actual timetable on these deals? Would they have come into force within the next thirty days?
