  1. You're probably correct, but there is every chance that some of the socialist vote was a protest vote against Macron and that protest element may well switch to Le Pen in the next round.

  2. It's a myth to believe the rise of the populist right in recent years is somehow the result of sinister manipulation . It is a genuine reaction to the excesses and inanities of "woke", social engineering policies. Personally I hope Le Pen wins, am glad that Orban did so convincingly and look forward to a similar figure emerging in this country. "Far right" doesn't mean fascism. It means emphasis on individual freedoms, not collectivism.
