Funny how Bakhmut has become "significant" all of a sudden. A week or so ago our "expert" was calling it a "village of no strategic importance."

Sky News barking up the wrong tree yet again.
194
What a time to have idiots in charge of this country.
168
The situation today is utterly different to the situation in 1939. Putin isn't Hitler and Russia isn't a defeated country labouring under the effects of an ill-considered peace treaty. Any similarities are entirely spurious and giving weight to them is not only foolish but extremely dangerous.
156
If we could get rid of Starmer ASAP please?
142
I don't see where desperation comes into this. Putin is matching move with move and seems to continue to be winning. The desperation is on the West's side, I think.
122
This is so utterly pathetic that anyone could be forgiven for believing this excuse for a government is actually in league with the people, smugglers -rather than trying to defeat them.
119
Who are the "fascists" now?
116
It wasn't Russia which fought the Germans in Kursk - it was the Soviet Union, of which Ukraine was a part.
113
Something like 60,000 prison places would be made available by deporting foreign inmates and releasing those held on drugs charges. This would leave plenty of room for those convicted of being rude on social media.
111
Have a heart. He needs the money to supply Ukraine with weapons and pay to house and feed illegal immigrants. Let's get our priorities straight, eh?
108
So a non-committal type of ruling from a fairly pointless judiciary then?
89
The tragedy is that Putin's initial request for regional autonomy for Donbass would have contented him. Tens of thousands have died to no purpose and Russia will almost certainly end up with more than he asked for then.
85
That would be because Mr Parker has been told to keep his mouth shut, or else.
81
Labour is actually encouraging them while merely pretending to do anything about them.
78
So it looks like Russia didn't do it then-?
77
Support for Ukraine is utter madness.
75
Young and middle aged people are experiencing all sorts of serious health problems lately. It is, of course, entirely coincidental that this trend has coincided with the mass roll-out of an inadequately tested, largely ineffective and more or less unnecessary new medical procedure.
73
To get to actual facts: as of December 2 there were just 42 patients in the covid ward in Pretoria's main hospital at the centre of the outbreak. Only 9 were admitted because of covid. The rest had tested positive after being admitted for other conditions and were asymptomatic.
69
The best "plan for change" would be to get rid of this shower ASAP.
68
Feeling anger when the police protect terrorists is entirely understandable.
68
No. America did.
67
Time to talk. A ceasefire is entirely possible - but probably not as long as Zelensky remains in charge.
60
Perhaps sending half a dozen officers to arrest someone for a mean tweet could be reconsidered? Just a thought.
60
We could do with something like the AfD in this country. Reform just doesn't crack it.
57
Is America finally coming to its senses?
57
The greater shame is that the government is taking no steps to investigate the manifest problems relating to covid vaccines, which could easily be as needlessly tragic as the blood scandal. Will we have to wait another two or three decades for that day of shame?
54
These ridiculous protests are doing incredible harm to race relations in this country. Black people are being cynically manipulated by Marxists into accepting a totally false scenario. The left has lost the allegiance of the working class and now finds new cannon fodder in these idiots.
53
It is quite clear that in Sir Keir Stalin's New Britain treating the sick and elderly must take second place to providing decent accommodation to the thousands of brave and healthy young men who have risked their lives and their I-Phones in making the perilous journey to our shores.
53
The Tories will have to think again about allowing a democratic vote by party members to decide their leader.
52
Yet another reason for NATO to countries to withdraw support for Ukraine.
51
What an entirely rational and reasonable person Vladimir Putin appears to be.
51
Yup a draw. Much like WWII in a funny kind of way.
51
Since so many "conspiracy theories" seem to turn out to be truths, perhaps "replacement theory" isn't so far of the mark after all.
51
What is so sickening is that those responsible for this war are sitting comfortably at home in the US and Europe, only mildly peeved because their investment hasn't paid off as much as they'd hoped.
51
Labour has solved the NHS problem. All it has to do is get rid of old people.
49
Apart from the fact that this was the funeral of a soldier and a great many of the mourners were apparently military men, I find it odd that these Russian "atrocities" always seem to happen when Zelensky is on a begging mission to get more armaments. Again, something stinks here - as in several other cases in which we are unequivocally told that the fiendish Russians are committing a war crime.
47
Another obvious PR stunt. He knows that it's all over in Mariupol, but by going on like this he'll be able to say that he did his best to save civilian lives. In reality, he couldn't care less. If there are any civilians in the Azovstral works chances are the Azov Battalion are executing them right now, and making it look as though the Russians did it.
47
So who told them what Putin's war aims are? The same people who told them the Taliban would take two months to reach Kabul?
47
If Omicron is what it seems to be we should welcome it with open arms.
47
It is clear to everyone not blinded by prejudice that the Labour government is committed to putting the interests of immigrants above those of native-born Brits. Whatever twisted ideology has lead to this situation it is clearly so entrenched that only the very swift removal of the government will prevent further serious outbreaks of violence.
46
Could be him next.
46
There are no heart issues on the list of symptoms so far detected. Unlike with vaccines.
45
I'm a quarter black. Can I go in for the first fifteen minutes?
43
It wasn't so much a land grab as a take back land grab.
42
Mariupol is now looking a great deal better than it was under Ukrainian occupation.
42
They don't just eat them either.
41
From what I can tell what he said wasn't racist anyway. The trouble is we are now at a stage where we can't even mention black people except in tones of extreme veneration.
41
Sir Sausage seems terribly keen on war.
39
Sterling and stylish performance by the Russians. A joy to watch!
