  1. The melting of sea ice is nothing new and does not threaten the survival of the planet. There was a similar situation in the 1920s.

  2.  @doctoronduty7044  We did have people mooring ships within thirty miles of the North Pole and trying to walk there. Also the Russians and Canadians started building railway lines and roads to open up territories becoming free of permafrost - but by the end of the decade everything was frozen up again. There is more sea ice around Greenland than there was ten years ago, but the cycle zigzags pretty crazily and seems to have very little to do with atmospheric carbon levels. I think atmospheric carbon acts more as a thermostat than anything else.
