As an optimist I watched this and was not a bit alarmed Mindless credulity does not equate with common sense - and empathy, or lack of it, doesn't enter into the equation at all.

You have it the wrong way around. Education is about enforcing opinions and the academically successful are those who most readily accept such opinions, and are rewarded for doing so. Those who use their intelligence to question these enforced opinions are rejected. Thus the correlation is between education and compliance, not education and intelligence. The extremely stupid man in this video rather proves the point.

Vaccinations only provide temporary and far from total protection though. It is just as scientifically valid to suggest that by deliberately catching covid and recovering from it you are protecting both yourself and others. Certainly herd immunity would be reached far more quickly using this approach.
