@nickpr5964 I don't think that's true at all. In a context like October 7, when there was a deliberate attack on civilians for no military purpose, words like "slaughtered" or "murdered" would be considered appropriate. The current action in Gaza, whatever you make think of it, has a clear military purpose, namely the eradication of Hamas, and therefore those who die are victims of war and less emotive terms may be used. I agree it's all a bit bonkers, but that's just the way the language of journalism works.

If Hamas didn't use aid convoys as a cover for military activity this would never have happened.

Their ghosts can take that up with their lawyers, I guess.

@ChrisAlbertH47 It's just journalism.

@ChrisAlbertH47 It's just the way journalists work. They are trained to always look for a "local angle". If the aid workers had been from Peru, say, we wouldn't have taken much notice but the Peruvian press would be all over it.

@nickpr5964 It's just a question of semantics. They die violently whether you chose to say "killed" or "murdered." From the deceased's point of view there's no difference.

@ChrisAlbertH47 They still have the mindset of a local newspaper journalist. If you are an American media outlet then Americans are more important than any other nationality. That's just the way it is.

@monicarenee7949 Given what happened, that should be pretty obvious.

@dreamcoyote Wrong. Just bait for the trap. Now Israel can pretend it was an accident while having effectively dissuaded Hamas from similar activity in the future.

@laithmughrabi8990 That's pushing it a bit.

@monicarenee7949 That should be obvious, seeing what happened.

@laithmughrabi8990 That would only work if I was Jewish. But I'm not.
