I can't help feeling that a working relationship with another very significant world leader is of greater importance than liking a pop star.

@harold9394 He is still a world leader. He just happens to be out of office at the moment - though hopefully that will change soon.

Surely two world leaders having a working relationship has to be a good thing? Why do you lefty loons need bogeymen to keep your juices flowing?

@chidigit ..which have been manipulated.

The Logan Act has only been used twice since it was enacted in 1799, and never once either in this century or the last. It is a stupid piece legislation which no-one in their right mind takes any notice of.
1
Why shouldn't he talk to Putin? Putin is no enemy of America.
1
Disliking Taylor Swift isn't treason.
1
@ecurewitz Why? Having a working relationship with an important world leader has to be good for America and good for peace.

A law passed over 200 years ago which nobody takes any notice of and never has.

@burns281981 For adults in the 18th century perhaps. But it is a nonsense in this day and age.
1
@burns281981 The Logan Act was enacted in 1799 under President John Adams. It is named after John Logan who entered into unauthorised negotiations with France. It has only been utilised twice, and never in the last 150 years.

@violax3467 Yes. You have it exactly.
1
@violax3467 Your amazement amazes me. The President of the Russian Federation and a former -and hopefully future -President of the United States can surely be judged to be significant world leaders. They have much in common, although Putin is far more of an intellectual.
1
@harold9394 all three - although we can hope he will soon stop being a civilian and that the felony thing will be seen as the shameful sham that it is.
1
@violax3467 Neither can do whatever they want. They can only do what is best for their respective countries. In both cases this means, among other things, keeping various powerful elements under control. Putin has succeeded in this, but America's oligarchs have successfully controlled the legislature for many decades. Trump threatens this comfortable arrangement which is why he is vilified and persecuted.
1
@bonnie7898 It also insists that any communication must be specifically against the interests of existing government strategies. This is almost impossible to prove.
1
@bonnie7898 Pretty much. They are all still Presidents. The extent of their leadership varies considerably of course, with Trump being very much at the top of your list.

Bunker mentality.
1
Clever, isn't he?
