Many thanks from the people of Donbass who have been fighting for their freedom for eight years - from Ukraine.

Silly sods. There is no comparison between the two situations.

It's about time the Ukraine government realised things are only going to get worse. If they do a deal with Putin now it will save many lives and will probably be better for them in the long run.

@jenniferreynolds1398 I still don't get your reference though. Both Ukraine and Russia fell to the oligarchs after the breakdown of the SU and Donbass was hit pretty badly. As far as I'm aware it was relatively prosperous before then. Rightly or wrongly, many ethnic Russians both there and in Crimea feel they have been badly treated by Kiev, which is one of the root causes of the present troubles.

@jenniferreynolds1398 You're going to have to explain yourself more clearly. I'm interested though.

@classicalaid1 I could fill a book with the differences between Hitler v Great Britain in the 1940s and Putin v Ukraine right now. Hitler was the newly elected leader of a country suffering from the effects of punishments inflicted following its defeat in war. Putin is the long-standing leader of a country which was the centre of an empire which collapsed from within. Hitler tried to expand his country's influence and to seek redress for its earlier defeat. Putin has merely tried to keep his country stable in the face of increasing pressure from a US-led cabal. His invasion of Ukraine is the consequence of a series of moves by this cabal to weaken Russia and to destroy it. There's plenty more, but that will do for now.

But Putin hasn't bombed much yet. Don't you wonder why? He has the capacity to flatten Kiev without even going nuclear.

@ephraimluwanomwanganya2418 Tough old world, isn't it?

@Real Aiglon The fact that I'm no such thing destroys any arguments you may have.

@marlowc2324 Why do you call me comrade? Are you one of the many ignorant people who have not been informed that Russia has not been a communist country for thirty years?

@rory kinahan America started this war and the Russians (I am British) have succeeded in their objective of securing the Russian speaking industrial areas of Eastern Ukraine. War is an uncertain business but there is every chance that they will hold on to these and even possibly expand them, as well as holding on to the Crimea, which is Russian.

@johnriach8365 I don't suppose he has any arguments, so it's rather a moot point.

@fanfeck2844 Bollocks.

@sn3495 I suffer from a knowledge of history and the ability to tell the difference between apples and oranges. Or tennis balls for that matter.
